The Objective

If a traditional barber or cosmetology school is what you’re looking for then you won’t find it here. We learn, teach, and operate in a complete Barber Shop environment, eliminating as much of the “school” feel as possible. Our practitioners get first-hand Shop experience making their transition into an actual shop as seamless as the blends on our fades. The environment is always calm, welcoming, encouraging, and positive. Pearland Beauty and Barber College and its student practitioners adhere to a standard of excellence creating an experience like no other.

Founder & Visionary of Pearland Barber College

With a B.S. in Finance from The Ohio State University and over two decades of hands-on expertise in the art of barbering, Ed has built a career that blends business acumen with creative mastery. He has transformed his lifelong passion for cutting hair into a mission-driven institution that empowers the next generation of barbers and beauty professionals. Ed’s journey began behind the barber chair, where years of dedication honed not only his technical skills but also his deep understanding of the industry’s culture, opportunities, and challenges.

Today, he leverages that experience—paired with his financial and entrepreneurial knowledge—to create an educational environment that inspires excellence, innovation, and success.

Driven by a belief that barbering is more than a trade—it’s a pathway to independence and generational wealth—Ed is committed to equipping students with the skills, confidence, and mindset to thrive both professionally and personally.

Alejandro Calvo

Cosmetology Instructor

Alejandro has been a Licensed Cosmetologist since 2006 and brings over 20 years of customer service expertise to Pearland Beauty and Barber College. His passion for hair began in 1996, and he refined his craft at Clark Beauty School in San Antonio (2002–2004).

In 2011, he earned his Master Stylist certification from Fantastic Sam’s Salon, further elevating his professional skill set. Alejandro spent 17 years with Great Clips, where he honed his technical precision and client care. With a wealth of experience in both artistry and customer service, Alejandro is dedicated to preparing the next generation of beauty professionals for success in the industry.

Tammy Perez

Cosmetology Instructor

My name is Tammy Perez, a licensed hairstylist, certified educator, and proud mother of five with a lifelong passion for beauty. I’ve been practicing hair since I was 14 years old, and I bring experience, creativity, and business leadership to the industry. I specialize in custom color, precision haircuts, and helping clients feel confident inside and out. I’m Bellami Extension Certified, Brazilian Blowout Certified, and Shades EQ Redken Certified. I also work in a Redken salon and have developed expertise in balayage, lived-in color, grey blending, blondes, and tailored haircuts. Haircuts are my absolute favorite—they allow me to express my artistic side and create a unique look that enhances each guest’s personality and lifestyle. I currently operate Tammy’s Beauty Consulting LLC, offering salon services, professional education, and mentoring. What sets me apart is not only my technical skill, but my ability to build genuine connections, understand client needs, and stay ahead of trends. I’m committed to growth, innovation, and excellence, and I bring heart, hustle, and professionalism to every space I’m part of—making me a true asset to any program or partnership

I entered the world of Barbering back in 2010 with the expectation of only cutting my own hair and a few friends. Very shortly after picking up my first pair of clippers, I found my Passion and Drive for the Art of Barbering. Since then, it’s led me to many different opportunities. Aside from having played Pro Basketball, this has led to some of the best experiences of my life. I’ve met celebrities, prominent figures, and won awards, featured in several news articles, along with various other accomplishments. I specialize in all areas of barbering. This is a lifestyle to me, and I love to teach this lifestyle to ambitious and driven individuals. I feel I am an extreme asset because of my experience, knowledge, skill, and desire to see others succeed in life. I am well versed when it comes to people and do a good job of reaching others where they are.

Channing Gaines

Barber Instructor Born and raised in Houston, TX.

I have been a Professional Registered Class A Licensed Barber since July of 2017, and I am blessed to say that I have taken the next step in my career as an Instructor and Barber at Pearland Barber College!! My main goals are to keep God First in everything I do, educate and mentor students who are pursuing a career in Barbering/Cosmetology, and provide exemplary service to current and future clients.
